Ai Weiwei in L.A.

“Without freedom of speech, there is no modern world, just a barbaric one” –Ai Weiwei

Provocative Chinese artist Ai Weiwei made his Los Angeles debut in Fall 2018 with three concurrent shows; Life Cycle at Marciano Art Foundation, Zodiac at Jeffrey Deitch and Cao / Humanity at UTA Artist Space. Responding to the unique architecture of each space, the showings utilized spectacle and repetition to raise awareness of international human rights issues.

In case you missed the other two shows, you can still see Life Cycle at Marciano Art Foundation through March 9, 2019. Book free tickets, and read why Forbes considers Weiwei’s MAF installation “the art event of the season in Los Angeles.”
